Sangareddy: The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) successfully concluded an intensive two-week international training programme on “Mastering Technology Transfer: A Global Pathway for Developing Countries,” aimed at bridging the gap between innovation and field-level application.
Supported by India’s Ministry of External Affairs under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, the initiative trained 50 professionals from 23 countries in transferring innovations from laboratory to field.
The participants included policymakers, researchers, and industry experts, who gained practical skills in technology management, valuation, commercialisation, and legal frameworks required to facilitate effective technology transfer.
The training placed strong emphasis on actionable strategies to enhance technology diffusion, equipping attendees to catalyse change and support innovation adoption in their respective countries.
ICRISAT Director General Himanshu Pathak noted that while agricultural scientists globally continue to develop breakthrough technologies, many of these never reach the farmers they are intended to benefit.
“Bridging this gap between innovation and adoption is a global challenge. This course is about turning that challenge into opportunity, ensuring that scientific advances are translated into real-world impact,” Pathak stated.
