Karimnagar: Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and former mayor S Ravinder Singh alleged that tenders for development works in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation had not been opened due to demands for a 10 percent commission. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he questioned union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on why development works had stalled after the BJP won the recent municipal corporation elections.
Ravinder Singh said the State government had issued GO No. 715 on October 25, 2025, granting administrative sanction of Rs.50 crore for development works in villages recently merged with the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. He said the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration approved 87 works under the proposal.
According to him, a tender notification was issued on January 17, 2026, and January 23 was the last date for submission of bids. He said contractors responded to most of the works, except for about 20. However, he alleged that the tenders had not been opened even after three months.
Ravinder Singh claimed that a foundation stone was recently laid for one of the works and questioned how the project was initiated without issuing a letter of acceptance. He alleged that tenders were being delayed for want of commissions and questioned the reason for not opening bids for earlier works.
He further said the State government was providing a 10 percent grant for the works, while the remaining 40 percent was being contributed by the National Housing Bank. Ravinder Singh also questioned why development works had stalled despite the BJP winning the municipal elections in Karimnagar.
