Khammam police warn traders against illegal fireworks storage
Ahead of Deepavali, Khammam police have approved 128 firecracker shops through a draw of lots, with strict instructions on safety and legal compliance. Additional DCP Prasad Rao warned of legal action against unauthorised storage or sale of fireworks and urged the public to report violations.

Khammam: Additional DCP (Law & Order) Prasad Rao said that traders should strictly follow the rules and regulations in setting up and running firecracker shops for Deepavali festival in Khammam.
A draw of lots was held here on Wednesday to allocate shops to traders. The additional DCP said that permission was given to 128 firecracker shops of the 148 applicants. As many as 86 shops would be set up in Degree College grounds and 42 shops in Pavilion grounds.
He said that strict legal action would be taken if fireworks were stored or manufactured without permission. Firecracker sellers should take proper precautions to prevent any accidents during the festival rush. Firecracker shopkeepers should keep sand and water available in buckets.
Prasad Rao asked the people to inform the local police if anyone was found running firecracker shops without permission. Town ACP Ramana Murthy and the two-town CI Balakrishna were present.
