Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a blistering attack on the Congress government for unleashing ‘bulldozer justice’ in Hyderabad under the guise of HYDRAA. He said the so-called HYDRAA drive had turned into a weapon of political vendetta targeting the poor while sparing the rich and powerful.
Promising all possible help to HYDRAA victims, he said the BRS government would fight on their behalf in the courts, the Assembly and on the streets, to ensure them justice. If there was no relief, he assured that the BRS would return to power in a couple of years and provide shelter to them.
“We have not wronged anyone in ten years. Wait for 500 days. The KCR government will return and ensure justice to every HYDRAA victim. I take personal responsibility,” he declared.
In a presentation to the media and an interaction with HYDRAA victims at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rama Rao said the Congress government had turned the slogan of equal justice to the rich and the poor into a cruel joke. He reminded that during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s 10-year rule, Telangana witnessed an era of construction including the State Secretariat, T-Hub, WE-Hub, Police Command Control Centre, 42 flyovers and underpasses, district collectorates, and lakhs of double-bedroom homes.
“But in just two years of Congress rule, all we see are demolitions,” he said.
The BRS working president stated that the Revanth Reddy government had turned Hyderabad into a demolition zone where bulldozers selectively target the poor. The houses of the poor are razed overnight, but no one dares to touch the illegal bungalows of Ministers and Congress leaders.
“When Minister Ponguleti encroached a tank and built a house, or Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy constructed within FTL of Durgam Lake, why were those not demolished? Are there different laws for the poor and the rich?” he questioned.
Rama Rao also named several Congress leaders allegedly involved in lake encroachments, including Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and G Vivek, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, and MLA Arekapudi Gandhi. He challenged the government to act against them.
“HYDRAA has no courage to touch them. Bulldozers stop where power begins,” he said.
Citing the plight of ordinary citizens, the former Minister said families were thrown out of homes in the dead of night.
“Pregnant women were pushed aside, children went hungry, and school buildings were razed down without prior notice. Yet, this government holds five-star meetings in the name of justice,” he said, displaying photos of victims.
He demanded to know why the State government or HYDRAA failed to take action against more than 15 major builders despite Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka openly accusing them of encroaching upon water bodies and promising action against them. He wanted to know whether there was any ulterior motive to mention these names before the media, but not take action against them.
Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of hypocrisy. “When in opposition, Revanth called demolitions inhuman. Now, he is doing worse. He once said mistakes of the poor should be treated with empathy and their lands should be regularised. Why is he using bulldozers against them now?” he asked.
