Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday said the second Telangana Statehood movement was based on the principles of Mahavir – peace, patience and non-violence – that led to the formation of the State.
“The teachings of Mahavir and his life, which taught peace, patience, true perception (Samyak Jnana) should be the ideal for the people,” he said.
Greeting the people of State on the occasion of Sri Mahavir Jayanthi, he said Telangana houses several Jain temples and centres and Jainism had flourished here. “The footprints of Jain Thirthankaras have made the region sacred. The integral philosophy of life in Telangana, which is live and let live principle despite several problems and troubles, has its roots in the Mahavir philosophy,” he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao said Mahatma Gandhi led the non-violent movement for the freedom of the country inspired by the teachings of Mahavir.
The Chief Minister said during these troubled and turbulent times of Covid-19 pandemic, everyone should have patience and take inspiration from the teachings of Mahavir, follow his philosophy and defeat the pandemic.
