Mancherial DCP calls for strict adherence to traffic rules during road safety week
At a road safety awareness programme in Mancherial, Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules to reduce fatalities. He cited data showing 150 deaths in 2025 due to accidents in the district.

Mancherial: Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar on Tuesday urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules to prevent deaths caused by road accidents. He was speaking at an awareness programme for auto rickshaws and lorry drivers, titled Arrive Alive, organised as part of the ongoing road safety week here.
Citing data, Bhaskar said road accidents in 2025 had claimed 150 lives in the district, leaving several families shattered. He stressed that road safety was everyone’s responsibility and advised two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, while asking drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules. He warned that stern action would be taken against those found driving under the influence of alcohol.
The DCP said following traffic rules was not merely a legal obligation, but also essential for the safety and well-being of drivers’ families. He urged motorists to make road safety a part of their daily lives. He also explained the financial crisis, mental trauma and long-term impact on families who lost breadwinners and loved ones in accidents caused by drunken driving, speeding and reckless driving.
Mancherial Assistant Commissioner of Police R Prakash, Town Inspector S Pramod Rao, Regional Transport Officer Gopinath, doctors, students, staff of the police and RTA, along with a large number of family members of road accident victims, were present.
