Hyderabad: The Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute, Jubilee Hills, will play host to the international literature and art festival — Valley of Words — on November 13 and 14. The event will revolve around two verticals: writing for young adults and translations from regional languages. An interesting mix of authors, their writing styles, illustrations along with a children film festival will be a part of the two-day event.
The event will be inaugurated by Harpreet Singh, Director General, MCRHRD and Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, on Saturday. During the session, a novel by late author Narendra Luther, The Family Saga, which is set in the time of partition of India, will be launched, followed by a series of sessions and conversations on many translated books — including Hijab by Guruprasad Kaginele, translated from Kannada book a by Pavan K Rao; The Princess and the Political Agent by Binodini, translated from a Manipuri book by L Somi Roy; Ratna Dholi : The Best stories of Dhumketu by Namita Gokhale, translated from a Gujarati book by Jenny Bhatt; The Loneliness Of Hira Barua by Arupa Patangia Kalita, translated from a Assamese book by Ranjita Biswas; Shanti Parav by Des Raj Kali, translated from a Punjabi book by Neeti Singh; and Sometimes Ivory, Sometime Sand by Mahek Jangda.
Later in the evening Dr Sanjeev Chopra will inaugurate a cartoon show, Obtuse Angle, by B P Acharya. Two new novels — Noise Cancellation by Jhilam Chatturaj and Echoes and Lines: Cartoons & Caricatures by Chiluveru Mrityunjay and B P Acharya will be launched. The evening will come to a close with soulful fusion music by well-known artist Jaywant Naidu, followed by dinner at the Vivekanand Lawns.
The Sunday morning will start with release of several books including Understanding India’s Geopolitics: Post Covid 19 Era edited by Dr Kanneganti Ramesh and Dr Katiyani Juneja Sharma, The Gupta Empire Trilogy – The Ocean’s Own by Nandini Sengupta, Breaking through New Earth by Jatish Chandra Mohanty, and many others.
The second half of the day will see a storytelling session of the book Phoenix in the Sky by Deepa Kiran. At 4.30 pm, artist Manohar will host an interactive session called Hope Cosmos. This will be followed by a stage performance by Vaishali Bisht and team.
