Moneylenders ‘harassment’ drives supermarket owner to end life in Medak
Deceased's wife Gayathri, in her complaint, said that Ramesh borrowed Rs 30 crore from 30 different lenders in the town when he took up the construction of the supermarket building
Medak: The suicide of Saideep supermarket owner Mallikarjuna Ramesh (54) took a new turn, with his wife filing a complaint accusing moneylenders of harassing her husband.
Ramesh’s wife, Gayathri, filed a complaint at the town police station on Thursday. In her complaint, Gayathri alleged that Ramesh borrowed Rs 30 crore from 30 different lenders in the town when he took up the construction of the supermarket building.
She further said that there was evidence in CCTV footage when they threatened her husband. Gayathri said her husband left for the supermarket at 7.30 am on February 11 to open the shop. However, he returned home soon after as the moneylenders threatened him with serious consequences unless he returned the amount.
Ramesh later hanged himself to death in his penthouse the same day. The police registered a case, and an investigation is on.
