Mulugu: Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh G Patil has promised to extend assistance under various government schemes to tribals living in remote parts of the district.
Patil was speaking at a medical camp as well as distribution of blankets programme organised by the district police for the benefit of Gotti Koya tribes at Venkatapur Mandal Centre near here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Patil cautioned them against anti-social elements like Maoists. “The police department is there to help tribals in difficult times. We will ensure that the dropout children join schools again and we will also provide other support to you. Be careful. Don’t fall prey to anti-social elements,” he said.
The SP, who is a doctor by education, personally examined the Gotti Koyas and their children at the medical camp. The tribals were asked to use mosquito nets to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. He also met tribal sportspersons who participated in the Medaram Trophy conducted by the police department recently. After the medical examination, medicines worth Rs 80,000 were also distributed to the participants and meals were arranged for about 650 people.
ASP P Sai Chaitanya, Mulugu Area Hospital Superintendent Dr Jagdish, Mulugu CI Devender Reddy, SI Harikrishna, Venkatapur SI D Ramesh, doctors, paramedical staff and police personnel participate in the programme.
