Nalgonda: Mystery behind the car found floating in the left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar project was unravelled when the district police took into custody a woman and her brother on Saturday. The luxury car was found floating in the waters in NSP canal at Goguvarigudem of Vemulapally mandal. Police sources say preliminary investigations found that a woman P Vigneshwari (27) and her brother Mallikarjun (30) were responsible for dumping the car into the canal. They were found to have run away from the place when local youth noticed them.
They were daughter and son of a retired Head Master Ramanjaneyulu, of Thipparthy village in the district. Due to differences with their parents, they were living separately in a rented house at Avanthipuram in Miryalaguda. With Rs 20 lakh from his retirement benefits, Ramanjaneyulu purchased a car at Hyderabad a week back and presented it to his children. He also told the police that his daughter and son were suffering from depression for the last four years. They might have dumped the car into the canal.
Interestingly, Vigneshwari also lodged a complaint with Miryalaguda police claiming that her car parked at VT theatre was stolen by unidentified persons to misguide the police. The police also found that the details of the car mentioned in the complaint and the car found in the canal were same.
