Nalgonda: BRS working president KT Rama Rao met with Mahatma Gandhi University students during his visit to Nalgonda district for the Rythu Maha Dharna. Students, who stopped him en route to the event, presented him with a representation detailing their grievances, including hostel issues and insufficient mess charges.
After the maha dharna, Rama Rao made a brief stop outside the university to address the students. While the students urged him to visit the campus and see their plight firsthand, he explained that doing so might lead to cases being filed against them. Assuring them of his support, he promised to visit the university at a later date to address their concerns in depth.
The students alleged that they were being harassed under the current administration and accused the Vice Chancellor of discriminatory practices and arbitrary actions. They also lamented the deteriorating facilities, pointing out that under the BRS government, buildings had been sanctioned for the university and students had access to better amenities, including sufficient and quality food during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure. However, they said that conditions had deteriorated over the past one year.
The BRS working president assured the students that their complaints would be brought to the government’s attention. He reiterated BRS’ commitment to student welfare and promised to work towards resolving the issues they faced.
Anticipating trouble ahead of Rama Rao’s visit to the university, a large police contingent was deployed around the university, with gates locked to prevent students from leaving the campus.
