Hyderabad: Even as the State government was taking up different tribal welfare programmes, the Centre sanctioned 17 Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Clusters (VDVKCs), which are set up in tribal dominated districts, during the last three years.
The Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram is aimed at livelihood generation for tribals by harnessing the wealth of forest by training and development of value chain. VDVKCs act as common facility centres for procurement and value addition to locally available minor forest produce.
Under this programme, the Central government had sanctioned 17 VDVKCs to Telangana in 2019-20. While 1,098 and 886 VDVKCs were sanctioned to other States in 2020-21 and 2021-22 financial years respectively, none were sanctioned for Telangana during these years.
These details were shared by Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh Satura in reply to a question by MP Vijay Kumar Dubey during Question Hour in Lok Sabha on Monday.
