People’s contribution vital for achieving ‘Bangaru Telangana’: Gutha

Nalgonda: Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy on Wednesday said achieving Bangaru Telangana would be possible only if people too participated in the development process. Unfurling the national flag on the occassion of Telangana State Formation Day here, Sukender Reddy said that it was the right occasion to pay tributes to hundreds of youth who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Statehood. After Statehood was achieved, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao put the State on the path of development besides taking up schemes for the welfare of poor and needy people. The Chief Minister’s vision placed Telangana on top in development and welfare, he added. Everyone has the responsibility to support the Chief Minister in turning his dream of a Bangaru Telangana, into reality, he added.
He said the State government had taken up irrigation projects Kaleshwaram, Sitarama, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi lift irrigation scheme to turn Telangana as a State of one crore acres wetland by utilising every drop of water from our share in Krishna and Godavari rivers. Kaleshwaram project was emerged as a source of irrigation for 85 per cent of the lands and catering the needs of drinking water supply. Kaleshwaram project, Dindi lift irrigation scheme and SLBC tunnel would soon turn every acre of land into a fertile agricultural land in erstwhile Nalgonda district, he added.
The schemes Rythu Bandhu and 24 hours free electricity supply to the farmers taken up by the Chief Minister have solved the crisis in the agriculture sector, which was battered the farmers of Telangana during united Andhra Pradesh, he maintained.
He reminded that Nalgonda district stood in top in the State in paddy procurement by purchasing 7.01 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the farmers for the last crop season. He said that 4,000 MW Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Plant, whose works were under progress at Damaracherla in the district, would cater the future needs of the electricity in the State. District Collector Naveen Mittal and Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath were also present.
