Hyderabad: Former MLC N Ramchander Rao was on Tuesday declared unanimously elected as the new BJP State president by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje, who also served as the party’s central election Returning Officer.
At a party programme held in Hyderabad, Karandlaje officially presented the election certificate to Ramchander Rao and urged party leaders and workers to work with renewed vigour for the BJP’s success in the upcoming local body elections.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister and outgoing BJP State president G Kishan Reddy called upon party leaders to highlight the developmental initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Telangana.
He claimed that the Centre had spent over Rs 12 lakh crore on various developmental projects in the State, including the sanctioning of 34 institutes and the modernisation of 40 railway stations. Central funding, he said, had also enabled improvements in sanitation, streetlighting, roads, crematoriums and other civic facilities in gram panchayats.
Accusing the ruling Congress in Telangana of rampant corruption, Kishan Reddy alleged that its Ministers and MLAs were “competing with each other in looting public money”. He said Ministers were more focused on “day-wise earnings” than governance, and were avoiding visits to villages as they had failed to deliver on their promises.
