Siddipet: An inscription dating back to the Rashtrakuta period (8th to 10th century AD) has been discovered at Nagapuri village in Cheriyal mandal. The find was made by archaeology enthusiast Kolipaka Srinivas on Wednesday.
Srinivas, a member of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam (KTCB), said the inscription could not yet be deciphered as it remains covered in paint. He appealed to the residents of the village to cooperate by inviting experts to study and interpret the script.
During a stroll through the village, Srinivas noticed a dilapidated ancient temple near the Pochamma temple, hidden among trees. On closer inspection, he found the inscription on one of the stones.
Based on the script style, Srinivas identified it as belonging to the Rashtrakuta period, adding that expert intervention would help uncover its historical significance.
