Revanth Reddy targets KCR, BRS at Miryalaguda rally
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, campaigning in Miryalaguda, launched a scathing attack on BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, accusing him of neglecting urban development, farmer welfare, and employment while misusing power.
Hyderabad: Indicating the tone that he would be adopting during the municipal election campaign would be nothing but to spew venom on his predecessor, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday accused BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of neglecting urban development, farmer welfare and employment and misusing power.
Despite widespread complaints of local bodies being bereft of funds for any developmental work, Revanth Reddy claimed that his government had spent over Rs 17,000 crore on municipal development in the last two years.
Addressing a public meeting in Miryalaguda after launching development works, Revanth Reddy also claimed that Rythu Bharosa financial assistance would be credited after the municipal elections.
This is after farmers were denied assistance under the scheme twice in the first year of the Congress government and also amid complaints of farmers not getting support under the scheme for the Yasangi season even until February.
Still urging voters to judge the Congress on its two-year record, Revanth Reddy predicted that the BRS and BJP would forfeit deposits in several places and claimed that welfare schemes were being implemented without discrimination, citing distribution of fine rice through ration shops and farm loan waivers.
Accusing the previous BRS government of tapping phones of politicians, journalists and film actors even as an SIT probe into the allegation has yet to reach any conclusion, the Chief Minister went to the extent of stating that BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao should have been treated like criminals and presented before the media with smeared faces.
He also objected to the portrayal of Chandrashekhar Rao as the ‘Father of Telangana’, a title bestowed upon him after he spearheaded the Statehood movement, and claimed that Sonia Gandhi and Prof K. Jayashankar deserved greater credit for formation of the State.
Revanth Reddy also alleged that the BRS failed to provide jobs to unemployed youth while in power and claimed that Chandrashekhar Rao constructed a house for himself at Punjagutta in 10 acres costing Rs 2,000 crore. He also alleged that the previous BRS government delayed the SLBC works, which he claimed contributed to the February 2025 tunnel collapse.
