Hyderabad: BRS leader and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar on Sunday slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for misusing his position to file false cases against political opponents, particularly targeting BRS working president KT Rama Rao in the Formula-E race case. He ridiculed the Congress regime, stating that even WhatsApp status messages were being used to register police cases.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Praveen Kumar said Revanth Reddy was heading a government driven by vengeance, alleging that FIRs against opposition leaders were being drafted at Gandhi Bhavan. He questioned the closure of his own complaint, which had named Revanth Reddy in the Formula-E case, and said the police acted without his knowledge or consent.
“Why is Revanth Reddy afraid of a lie detector test?” he asked, urging the Chief Minister to accept KT Rama Rao’s challenge for a polygraph test before a judge during a live telecast.
The former IPS officer also criticised the police for their inaction in the suicide case of Sai Reddy, who he claimed was harassed by members of Revanth Reddy’s family. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of notices issued to Rama Rao and warned that continued political witch-hunting would face legal consequences. He said the Congress government was turning Telangana into a police State where even basic dissent was being criminalised.
“How can a man with 89 cases, including the cash-for-vote scam, lead the State and hold the Home portfolio?” he asked, targeting Revanth Reddy.
Praveen Kumar further criticised the Congress government over the Rs 200 crore beauty pageant hosted by the State, alleging that misconduct by Congress leaders had forced Miss England Milla Magee to withdraw from the event.
