Rumours of gang rape of minor girl at Medaram circulate on social media, police silent
Unverified rumours circulating on social media allege that a 13-year-old girl was assaulted during the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara at Medaram in Mulugu district. Police have not issued any official response to the claims since Monday.

Mulugu: Rumours are doing the rounds on social media about the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old minor girl by five youths from Chhattisgarh at Medaram during the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara.
According to the rumours, the incident reportedly occurred in a mango orchard near Jampannavaagu. It was claimed that when the girl, who had gone to the washroom, did not return, her family members grew suspicious and began searching for her, eventually finding her unconscious.
The girl’s family members reportedly caught the youths found at the spot and assaulted them. While some of the youths allegedly managed to escape, others were apprehended by the police. It was also claimed that the police immediately shifted the girl to a hospital.
It was further alleged that the government machinery managed to keep the incident under wraps, preventing the news from spreading. There has been no official response from the police regarding the rumours circulating on social media since Monday.
