Siddipet: A farmer training programme was held at Rythu Vedika in Cheriyal, Siddipet district, on Tuesday, highlighting the benefits of mechanisation in cotton cultivation under the High-Density Planting System (HDPS).
Addressing the farmers, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Radhika Rao emphasised the growing potential of mechanisation in cotton, similar to that of developments in paddy and maize. “There is significant scope for introducing machinery in cotton cultivation, from sowing to harvesting. This not only reduces manual labour but also ensures timely operations and improved yields,” she said.
As part of its efforts to promote mechanised cotton farming, Nuziveedu Seeds distributed three manual seed planters free of cost to farmers. These devices ensure precise seed placement and uniform spacing, both key components of the HDPS approach.
The initiative aims to reduce labour dependency, promote uniform crop establishment, and ultimately enhance productivity in cotton fields.
Additionally, the company distributed Mepiquat chloride, a plant growth regulator, at no cost to farmers adopting HDPS. The regulator helps manage canopy growth, improving light interception and supporting higher yields.
With cotton being a major crop in the region, the initiative is expected to make a notable impact on the agricultural landscape of Siddipet district in the coming seasons.
