Hyderabad: Charging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with double standards, former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao demanded the State government to stop labour exploitation with the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) and bring reforms immediately. He condemned Revanth Reddy for altering the leave policy, forcing TSSP constables to go home only once a month instead of every 15 days, calling it an unfair burden on police officers and their families.

“Is this the Dasara and Diwali gift you are giving the police?” Harish Rao asked, also taking up the issue with the reduction in travel allowance (TA) for civil and Armed Reserve (AR) police from 15 days to seven, calling for restoration of the previous allowance system.

The former Minister demanded the immediate release of pending travel allowances, surrender leave (SL), General Provident Fund (GPF), and retirement benefits. He also urged the government to clear diesel dues for vehicles used by the civil police, which have been delayed under the Congress regime.

The BRS MLA pointed out that under the K Chandrashekhar Rao government, police station maintenance funds were regularly provided – Rs 25,000 for mandal-level police stations, Rs 50,000 for urban police stations, and Rs 75,000 for police stations in Hyderabad. He said the Congress government stopped these funds, forcing police personnel to struggle for basic operational needs. He demanded that the government release necessary funds.
