The 21-kg ‘Bangaru laddu’ (Golden laddu), as rhe locals refer to it, was bought by Dasari Dayanand Reddy of Turkayamjal in Ranga Reddy district at an open auction organized by Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi here on Thursday.
According to the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi president Kallem Niranjan Reddy, a few more participants were expected to enroll for in this year’s laddu auction, which will be held before procession of Ganesh idol in Balapur on Thursday.
The immersion which commences on Thursday is expected to continue on Friday as well during which several thousands of Ganesh idols ranging from Khairatabad Bada Ganesh, Balapur Ganesh and others are expected to be immersed.
This year, the box cricket Ganesh idol in Hindi Nagar is attracting many devotees. Apart from offbeat pandals, there are many pandals here that are lauded for their simplicity.
