Every year, the Samithi invites leaders of the BJP, RSS, VHP and other Hindu organisations for the procession. This is the first time that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be participating in the annual event. Advocate Venu Madhav’s petition argued that the State government had flagrantly violated court orders prohibiting the immersion of idols, particularly Plaster of Paris (POP) idols, at Tank Bund.
Representatives of Ganesh Utsav Samithi and Khairatabad Ganesh Samithi raised issues concerning the festival, including potholes, the need for adequate illumination at specific locations, the availability of vehicles for mandapam organizers, and arrangements for food and water during the immersion night etc.
