Drone-based paddy plantation is being tested on a pilot basis in select Telangana districts to tackle labour shortage and reduce cultivation time. Scientists say the method can cover large areas quickly without affecting crop yield.
Scientists have been working on this practice of paddy cultivation in India to restrict carbon emissions coming out of stagnated waters in paddy fields.
If a farmer plants 1000 plants per acre he could harvest at least 150 drumsticks per plant; thus 1.50 lakh drumsticks would be obtained in a harvest season and an income of Rs 75,000 could be generated, he said.
