Despite KT Rama Rao's clarifications, certain organisations and social media channels continue to put into circulation false information, prompting the BRS to take a firm stand
Senior Counsel CS Sundaram, representing KT Rama Rao, argued that the Anti-Corruption Bureau's case against his client was "politically motivated." He emphasized that there was no evidence of criminal misconduct and pointed out that the First Information Report (FIR) was filed after an unusually long delay of 14 months.
The session started with BRS MLAs urging the Speaker to address the Formula-E issue before discussing the Bhu Bharati Bill. Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao took the opportunity to criticize the Congress government for making unfounded corruption allegations against former Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and the previous BRS government. "If the government is sincere and courageous, let’s have an open discussion and let the facts come out," he stated.
The ACB has listed Rama Rao as Accused No. 1, Arvind Kumar as Accused No. 2, and BLN Reddy as Accused No. 3 in a case involving alleged irregularities of Rs. 55 crore related to the Formula E car race held in Hyderabad in 2023 and its proposed second edition scheduled for February this year. On Tuesday, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari wrote to the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), requesting an investigation into the allegations against Rama Rao.
Responding to speculative reports on Rama Rao's possible arrest, Kavitha stated that the people of Telangana were closely watching the scripted drama by the Congress party, which was desperate to use legal tactics to target the BRS and its supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao, as it could not face the opposition politically.
The Telangana Bhavan, which was bustling with BRS leaders until the afternoon, saw a heavy deployment of police in the evening, creating a tense atmosphere in the area. At one point, the number of policemen surpassed the party cadre present at the premises. BRS leaders, including spokesperson Manne Krishank, criticized the heavy police presence, accusing them of intimidating party activists. The police, however, stated that they were acting on orders from their superiors.
Referring to the reported nod from Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to arrest him, Rama Rao observed that Revanth Reddy appeared to have got the desired result after falling at the feet of the BJP leadership in Delhi and holding secret meetings with industrialist Gautam Adani in Jaipur
