Heavy rains were reported in the eastern half of Cuba, where authorities have evacuated thousands of people due to the risk of flooding.

So far, 20 municipalities in different regions of the state have been affected by overflowing rivers and landslides, Xinhua news agency quoted the state's Civil Protection Secretariat as saying on Friday.

The State Ground Water Department monitored water levels through 966 monitoring stations covering all mandals from 33 districts of Telangana State.

The chief minister of Tamil Nadu also declared Rs 10 crore assistance from Chief Minister’s relief fund.

The Minister appealed to all residents in low lying areas and those staying in the first and second floors to shift to relief camps immediately and not to put their lives at risk.
