With Maharashtra and Jharkhand polls now over, BJP State leaders are expecting party leadership to begin the exercise of selecting new State president

BJP National President JP Nadda reportedly voiced his frustration over low enrollment numbers and urged state leaders to meet their targets by October 24. Despite actively participating in the membership drive to motivate party leaders and workers to recruit new members, the party has not yet reached even 50% of its target.

"I want you to complete the target in the next 15-days. Leaders enrolling more persons will be rewarded with party posts,"he said

The first phase of the membership drive came to an end on Wednesday and with just two weeks left to end the general membership, drive it may be difficult for the saffron party to reach its target

Party national president JP Nadda has made Arvind Menon and former MP Rajdeep Roy in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Tripura, respectively

This assurance came in response to a letter addressed to him by the Minister for Agriculture Thummala Nageswara Rao, stressing the need to scale up the supply of DAP to the State in view of the growing demand from the Kharif farmers.

The Chief Minister, during the meeting, briefed him about the initiatives being taken in the health sector by the State government.

Sources in the party said the State leadership had so far finalised candidates for 10 constituencies, including the four sitting seats, while hectic discussions were over the remaining seats.

With 94 seats out of the 239, BJP is currently the single-largest party in the Upper House, followed by Congress with 30 seats and Trinamool Congress with 13 seats.

BJP National President JP Nadda was scheduled to visit Hyderabad on Saturday and was likely to discuss the BJPLP leader issue with the State leaders.

DK Shivakumar also reacted to the matter and said that the BJP was trying to do politics on the incident in spite of the state government taking action against the culprits.
