Hyderabad police conducted a special enforcement drive across the Secunderabad Zone against public drinking and smoking. During the operation, more than 100 violators were booked, including individuals consuming marijuana, smoking in public places and drinking alcohol in public areas.
The Hyderabad Water Board seized 17 illegal motors during inspections in Secunderabad as part of a crackdown on unauthorised water extraction. Officials warned of fines and legal action against repeat offenders and urged consumers to report supply issues through official channels.
The three major civic bodies of Hyderabad – GHMC, CMC and MMC – together collected Rs 2,558 crore in property tax for the 2025-26 financial year. Within GHMC, Khairatabad Zone emerged as the highest contributor.
The GHMC will begin a special sanitation drive from December 29 under the supervision of 12 Zonal Commissioners and 60 Deputy Commissioners. Commissioner RV Karnan, while reviewing sanitation works in Secunderabad, directed officials to resolve long-pending issues and focus on garbage hotspots.
The Minister on Thursday directed MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar to immediately identify those responsible for the open manhole issue in the Secunderabad zone and to take action against them
