Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to prioritise reputed companies in land allocation for investment projects. Reviewing MoUs signed at Davos and the Telangana Rising summit, he urged speedy land acquisition and infrastructure development, particularly in Future City.
Despite generating over 2,031 MLD of treated water daily from 55 sewage treatment plants, the Hyderabad water board has found little demand for its non-potable water. Only 0.1 percent is currently sold to institutions like Lok Bhavan, GHMC, HMDA and select corporates.
Hyderabad is pushing towards becoming India’s first city with 100% sewage treatment. The HMWS&SB will build 39 new STPs across the ORR region, addressing the growing demand from rapidly urbanizing areas. Six more plants are set to be commissioned this month.
The SWTs will be constructed with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore, involving private players. The Centre will contribute 25 percent of the project cost, while the State and contractor will cover 35 percent and 40 percent, respectively.
Though the municipal officials had assured to allocate land to all the displaced families in other places, local people are not in a position to believe the promise.
