Telangana: Congress cadre anxious over campaigning in villages
The Congress government initially launched the four schemes on a grand scale on January 26, promising statewide implementation. However, it later backtracked, stating that the schemes would be rolled out in a phased manner, starting with one village per mandal under a saturation model.

Hyderabad: The Congress cadre in the State is anxious over visiting the villages with different sections venting their ire over the assistance to be extended under Rythu Bharosa and Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa and the cumbersome process for filing applications for ration cards and Indiramma Indlu.
The Congress government had launched the four schemes on a grand scale on January 26. After having assured to implement the schemes across the State, the government took a ‘U’ turn and said the schemes would be implemented on a saturation mode in one village in every mandal.
It has been a fortnight since the schemes were launched formally and farmers, women and others are fuming over the government over inefficient implementation. This apart, the delay in extending assistance under the schemes is adding fuel to the people’s fire.
For instance, many farmers are up in arms against the government stating that they were yet to receive the financial assistance of Rs.6,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa this season. Similarly, the landless farm labourers are eagerly waiting for the assistance under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa.
However, the government continues to claim that assistance was being extended to the farmers. The same was reiterated by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at a programme in Kerala on Sunday.
Like farmers, the women are also unhappy for making them run from pillar to post to file applications for new ration cards and Indiramma Indlu.
Ration cards applications not being accepted at Mee Seva
For instance, the Civil Supplies department issued a circular on February 7 saying people can file applications for new ration cards at Mee Seva centres. But people were left disappointed as there were a few issues in filing the applications.
Following the furore, the government withdrew the orders and clarified that new applications will not be accepted through Mee Seva centres. Officials further said that only Praja Palana applications will be processed.
Considering all these factors, the Congress cadre is anxious over gearing up for the ensuing local bodies’ elections. Though the Ministers are appealing to the cadre to gear up for the polls and prepare plans, the mood is contrasting at the ground level.
“It is challenging for the elected public representatives to convince the people. The four schemes have been launched in one village under each mandal, people in other villages are questioning the leaders about the schemes implementation,” a senior leader from Gandhi Bhavan said.
