Hyderabad: The School Education department officials have allegedly threatened to dismiss and terminate services of the protesting Samagra Shiksha employees if they failed to report to work by Sunday evening.
The officials have taken aggressive stand against protesting employees after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took a u-turn on his promise to regularise their services, stating that Samagra Shiksha was a Central government scheme and there was no scope for regularisation.
A district educational officer and mandal educational officer on Sunday sent out messages to employees, who have been protesting for the last 27 days, asking them to call off strike and join back to work even if their special officers do not get back to work.
The protesting employees were also told that a list of non-joined candidates would be sent to the Samagra Shiksha State Project Officer for further action. However, protesters warned that 19,000 families would have to go to the streets if the state government initiated any action against them.
“If our services cannot be regularised due to legal issues, the government must give us the basic pay, which is our second demand. Instead of resolving our demands, the government is threatening us with an action, which is not correct,” said Dundigal Yadagiri, president, Telangana Samagra Shiksha Employees Association.
Revanth Reddy, during his assembly election campaign in Hanamkonda district, had assured to regularise Samagra Shiksha employees’ services within one month into assuming power. Since there has not been any decision, the employees hit the streets demanding the government fulfil assurances given to them. Earlier talks with Ministers Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponnam Prabhakar and Seethakka proved futile.
“We are ready to call off the strike if the government gives us a concrete solution for our demands, including basic pay, insurance, and job security, if not even non-teaching employees will be forced to join the protest,” Yadagiri added.
