Telangana: Complaint against TV panelist for creating panic over Covid
In the complaint, the DPH said during a talk show in a vernacular news channel on June 8, Mallik passed the comments which were highly objectionable in terms of medical ethics regarding the third wave
Hyderabad: Director of Public Health and Family Welfare Dr. G Srinivas Rao on Monday lodged a complaint with the Sultan Bazaar police against one Paruchuri Mallik for his misleading and factually incorrect statements on a third wave of Covid-19, which in turn triggered panic among the public.
In the complaint, the DPH said during a talk show in a vernacular news channel on June 8, Mallik passed the comments which were highly objectionable in terms of medical ethics regarding the third wave.
“He is not a subject expert, but he made comments using irrelevant technical terms. Further, it is informed that, no institution or individual study, even globally, had any experience or scientific prediction regarding the impending third wave and its effect on families or children,” Dr. Rao said, adding that the unnecessary spreading of rumours without any scientific backing by Dr.Mallik would definitely cause panic and great distress to the common man.
Dr.Rao has sought action against Mallik under sections of the Epidemic Act and other laws. The Sultan Bazaar police are investigating.
