For the record, Telangana sailors won four gold, a silver and a bronze in the Junior Nationals in Marve (Mumbai).
Lahiri Komaravelly of Rasoolpura wins a gold in the under 16 Sub juniors alongside Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan Kathravath who won the Junior Double Handed Nationals all students of Udbhav School at Rasoolpura.
“Lahiri sailed an impeccable regatta of 9 races with 4 wins and two second positions with 19 penalty points ahead of the fleet by an unassailable lead of 13 points to be National Champion 2025,” said Suheim Sheikh, chief coach and president of Yacht Club of Hyderabad.

Chandralekha Tattari of Udbhav School got her first bronze medal at the Nationals. Five of the 6 podium finishers were from Telangana in the sub juniors under 16.
“Shreya Krishna of Tamil Nadu, who was the top seed was unfortunately disqualified in two races and dropped to 5th. She is preparing for the Asians and Worlds in Oman and Slovenia respectively, Suheim said.
“Our efforts over the last year with intensive fitness and nutrition and theory lessons paid dividends as 8 of the top 14 were from Telangana and we are on the right track from a training point of view”, said Suheim.
The Federation list of selected sailors for the Langkawi International in June is yet to be released soon and the likelihood of most of the sailors making the mark is very high and Telangana may have at least 7 sailors selected.
The sailors are now off to Shillong for another National ranking regatta after which they will participate in Hyderabad for the prestigious and coveted Monsoon Regatta Trophy at Hussain Sagar.
