Hyderabad: In a move that ignited fresh concerns among aspirants, the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) is learnt to have expedited evaluation process for the ongoing Group – I Main examinations despite multiple pending legal cases.
The TGPSC is said to be considering announcing the results of the exams on November 20, the day when the High Court is scheduled to hear the petition against the GO 29. Plans are also afoot to handover appointment letters to selected candidates on December 9. The exams that began on October 21 will conclude on October 27.
It is learnt that the Commission commenced scanning of the answer scripts of the ongoing Main exams. It is also learnt that TGPSC roped in the services of a large number of professors to evaluate the answer scripts.
It is said two professors will be evaluating each answer script. On the basis of marks allotted by professors, average marks will be arrived at. If there is a 15 per cent difference in the marks allotted by two professors, the answer script will be evaluated by the third evaluator.
The issue began with the GO 29, which according to the aspirants violated the rule of reservation in selection of candidates for the Group – I Main exams.
The previous BRS government had issued GO 55, which allowed candidates from reserved categories to compete in both open and reserved quota based on the merit secured in the examination. However, the Congress government issued GO 29 restricting the SC, ST and BC candidates to the reserved candidates even if they secured high marks for the open category selection.
This GO 29, according to aspirants, disqualified several aspirants who were earlier eligible under the earlier rules. While the issue reached the Supreme Court, the candidates could not get immediate relief. The apex court asked the High Court, where the GO was challenged, to hear the matter expeditiously before the Group – I results were declared, preferably on November 20.
Apart from GO 29, there are other legal cases on the Group – I, including GO 33 relating to ST reservation enhancement.
