Mancherial: A tiger continued to roam in the forests of Kannala village in Bellampalli mandal for the second day on Sunday, triggering panic among locals.

Forest officials said that a female tiger was wandering in the forests of Kannala village for the second day. They stated that they requested the villagers to be cautious of the tiger.

They added that they were tracking the movement of the tiger with the help of animal trackers, besides taking steps to prevent human loss and to ensure smooth passage for the wild animal.

The tiger residing in Tiryani mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district is said to have drifted towards the district in search of territory in the third week of December.

Since then, the tiger has been shuttling between Luxettipet and Bellampalli ranges. Sighting of the tiger in cotton fields and on the edges of the forests sparked concern among villagers. The tiger killed a wild boar in a cotton farm at Kannala on Saturday. Farm labourers reportedly fled the field upon hearing the tiger roar.

Considering the movement of the tiger, a private school declared a holiday on Saturday. A road leading to a hillock temple situated in the forests from Kannala was closed down as a precautionary measure.
