Jagtial: As part of the All India Tiger Estimation 2026, scientific wildlife census surveys were conducted in Kondagattu and Kodimial forest ranges.
Transect line surveys covering two kilometres were carried out from January 20 to 23, followed by trail line surveys spanning five kilometres from January 23 to 25, strictly adhering to standard scientific protocols.
During the exercise, wildlife footprints and pellets were systematically recorded to assess animal movement, population density and habitat utilisation. Herbivore and carnivore censuses were conducted for three days each using approved scientific methods.
As part of the carnivore census, Ravi Prasad, Divisional Forest Officer, Jagtial, inspected the survey areas and examined footprints, droppings and pellets.
Forest officials said the data collected would aid wildlife conservation planning and strengthen forest management strategies.
Forest officials including FRO Moinuddin, Deputy FRO Monika, FBO Praveen and base camp watcher Mahender participated in the survey.
