Peddapalli: A tiger was reported to have entered Peddapalli district near Adavisomanpalli of Manthani mandal from the adjacent Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district on Saturday.
The big cat was stated to have crossed the Manair river near Koyyur of Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district. People belonging to Koyyur and other villages found the Tiger while crossing the river.
Panicked about the entry of the tiger into the district, local people informed the matter to forest officials. On learning about the incident, Karimnagar forest conservator, forest officials from Peddapalli and Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli districts on Saturday visited Adavisomanpalli village and tried to locate pugmarks of the tiger.
Forest officials alerted the people staying in villages located along with the river Manair such as Adavisomanpalli, Venkatapur, Arenda, Kanapur, Kansaipet and other villages. Villagers were also asked not to lay traps with electric wires at agricultural fields.
Speaking to Telangana Today, District Forest Officer, Peddapalli, Ch Shivaiah said upon learning about the incident, forest teams visited Adavisomanpalli and other villages and tried to locate the pugmarks of the tiger but in vain. Though the villagers were stating that the tiger crossed the Manair river, they have not found any evidence about the movement of the big cat. Informing that they were alert, DFO said they also alerted the people residing in the villages located along the Manair river. Villagers were also advised not to harm the tiger, he said.
