Mancherial: Another calf was killed by a tiger while a herd of cattle was grazing in the forests of Rottepelli under Dharmaraopet village on Sunday evening, triggering panic among villagers.
Forest officials said that a tiger might have attacked the herd and killed a calf belonging to Kurisenga Achyuth Rao from Gonduguda. They stated that compensation would be given to Rao after completing the procedure soon. They urged villagers not to take the cattle deep into the forest.
Officials say a male sub-adult tiger, which possibly moved from Maharashtra, was roaming on the borders of Tiryani of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district and Kasipet mandals, might have killed the calf. CCTV camera traps were installed to track its movement. On July 8, a calf was killed by the same tiger in the forests of Venkatapur village in Kasipet mandal.
Locals requested the Forest officials to take steps to divert the tiger into deep forests and to prevent human and cattle loss. They said that they were living in the grip of fear following the movement of the tiger. They regretted that they were hesitating to take up farm activities.
