TS govt to strengthen DCCBs, plans to open new branches

Hyderabad: The State government has begun efforts to strengthen the District Cooperative Central Banks across all the districts and open new branches to extend better services at the doorsteps of farmers in the State. The Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank (TSCAB) has already completed computerisation of 795 Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in this regard.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, who chaired the first high-level committee meeting of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at BRKR Bhavan here on Saturday, asked the officials concerned to create a mobile application to extend better services from branches and initiate necessary steps to strengthen the DCCBs in the State.
The Chief Secretary suggested that NABARD officials conduct a feasibility study to open new branches to extend services to all the villages in the State. He said the feasibility report will be submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for clearance. He also wanted them to prepare a note on the report submitted by the high-level committee to strengthen the Cooperative Credit System in the State. He asked them to conduct a workshop for all the DCCBs to improve their economic performance and extend better services.
Agriculture Secretary B Janardhan Reddy, TSCAB president K Ravinder Rao, Commissioner of Co-operative department and Registrar of Co-operative Societies M Veerabrahmaiah, Special Secretary for Finance Ronald Rose, NABARD chief general manager YK Rao, and other senior officials, attended the meeting.
