Khammam: The leaders of different teachers unions have appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to look into the plight of around 30,000 teachers affected by GO 317.
The teachers who planned a protest under the aegis of Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee (USPC) seeking to amend the GO were taken into custody by police here on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media, Telangana State Primary Teachers Association (TSPTA) State president Syed Shaukat Ali and Telangana State School Teachers Federation (STF) secretary Devarakonda Saidulu wanted the State government to do justice to those who have lost their local status and benefits under physical disability, spousal category and others.
They expressed displeasure at police taking the protesting teachers into custody across the State and appealed to the Chief Minister to assess the situation at field level instead of paying heed to misleading advice of selfish union leaders and Bihari Babus.
It was sad that the government was ignoring the teachers’ demands despite the fact that as many as 30,000 teachers took to the streets for the past two and a half months in support of their demand.
