Hyderabad: A YouTube video of Munawar Faruqi, who was arrested in January for allegedly making objectionable comments on Hindu deities and Home Minister Amit Shah, is going viral on the internet. The video titled “Munawar Faruqui leaving comedy” has been doing the rounds on social media, leaving his fans sad.
In this video he spoke his heart out urging people to consider Stand-up comedy as an art form. On behalf of content creators, he said that hurtful comments passed by people could easily ruin someone’s life.
People make content to entertain the audience but not to earn fame and money, said Munawar Faruqi conveying that he was mildly affected for the things he has not done. “I never wanted to hurt anyone and become famous, instead I always wanted to make people laugh,” added Faruqui, who is out on bail.
In his 10-and-a-half minute video, he said that herd mentality and politics on the internet can easily damage the talent of content creators and added that he was not a victim yet.
Taking an apparent dig at another YouTube content creator ‘Hindustani Bhau,’ Munawar quipped that he could have made videos sitting in a car and abusing anyone if he wanted to earn some likes and get famous.
“No one listens to anyone, just fights!” he reiterated that it is unlikely for audiences to pay money and go to a show encouraging toxic verbal abuse, which is why likes on such videos could make them viral and earn money for the creators.
However, the twist in the tale came at the end of the video when Munawar apologised about a “typo” in the video’s title, saying “I would like to apologise about the typo in my video title. It is not Munawar Faruqui ‘LEAVING’ comedy, it is Munawar Faruqui ‘LIVING’ comedy”
The video has helped him earn accolades as support poured in for the stand-up comedian in the form of shares and comments across social media platforms.
