Hyderabad: Wildlife Trust of India extended financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of Nafeez, FSO and Forest Toll Gate assistant Balakrishna, who succumbed to Covid, from its Covid Casualty Fund. The two Forest Department employees were working under Amarabad Forest Division limits.
Based on a request from Forest Department, the Wildlife Trust of India extended the financial assistance to help the deceased green warriors.
Apart from the relief amount, both Nafeez and Balakrishna’s families were also given citations as gratitude for their work towards the environment by WTI, B Srinivas, CCF & FDPT, Amarabad Tiger Reserve, said in a statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar reviewed the progress of Haritha Haram at a meeting at BRKR Bhavan here. Officials informed the Chief Secretary that saplings and other material were readily available. During the course of the meeting, Somesh Kumar emphasised the need to focus on multi-level avenue plantation, nurseries and Palle Prakruthi Vanams.
Shanti Kumari, Special Chief Secretary, EF, R Sobha, PCCF, Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, and other officials attended the meeting.
