Hanamkonda: Police have arrested a woman, her brother, lover and two others for allegedly burning the woman’s husband alive to death at Govindaraopet in Mulugu district.
Speaking to the media here on Friday Warangal East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar informed that an elderly man Madikonda Sambaiah filed a complaint with Parkal police reporting that his son, Madikonda Suman Bharath was missing.
The police registered a missing case and initiated an investigation. After gathering crucial evidence the police cracked the case and found that the missing man’s wife plotted to kill her husband with the help of others.
Bharath (38) of Parkal town married Lavanya in 2012 and they had two children. Lavanya developed an illicit relationship with a youth, Immadi Naresh of the town. On learning about their affair Bharath became addicted to alcohol and used to assault her regularly.
Unable to endure the suffering, she approached her younger brother Pendala Raju and her paramour Naresh asking them to kill her husband and offered them money. The duo agreed and hired a man Chiranshetty Venkateshwarlu of Govindaraopet; negotiated a contract killing for Rs 5 lakh.
Lavanya pledged her gold jewelry to raise Rs 1.59 lakh; Naresh and Raju contributed Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively. Rs 4.59 lakh was paid to Venkateshwarlu, who along with his accomplice, Bhukya Rakesh lured Bharath to Mulugu on April 3 offering him with alcohol and money.
The assailants took Bharath to Venkateshwarlu’s agricultural field, where Bharath was made to drink liquor and was beaten on his head with a beer bottle; after he collapsed; they poured the petrol over his body and set him on fire. They recorded the entire incident on their mobile phones.
On April 4, the killers showed the evidence of Bharath’s death to Lavanya and Raju at Mulugu and collected the balance payment of Rs 40,000. To avoid any suspicion among the locals, Lavanya went to stay at her in-laws’ residence at Parkal.
Meanwhile the killers disposed of the skeletal remains of Bharath in Dayyalavagu in Mulugu. During the questioning all the accused confessed to their crime; were arrested and sent to judicial remand, the DCP said.
