Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar felicitated the family members of late V Narsi Reddy who donated his organs in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Sunday.
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Sunday advised people to shed apprehensions and misconceptions and adopt a rational approach about organ donation.
Sajjanar after meeting the family members of an organ donor V Narsi Reddy at Mothkur town of Yadadri Bhongir district, appreciated the efforts of the family to donate organs for a humanitarian cause and assured them all help.
Jeevandan scheme is a transparent and efficient system and has become a role model for the entire country, he said.
Narsi Reddy was declared brain dead at a hospital in the city and on February 1 his family members came forward and donated his kidneys, liver, heart and lungs and cornea which will save the lives of around eight persons suffering from various issues including one heart transplantation at the Apollo Hospital which was transported in Hyderabad Metro Rail.
Sajjanar felicitated Narsi Reddy’s wife Nirmala, two sons and his mother Sugunamma, brother-in-law Nagam Venkat Reddy and uncle Padma Reddy and conveyed gratitude to them on behalf of the police and Jeevandan.
The police of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda are planning to have a sustainable collaboration with Jeevandan programme and engage themselves directly in spreading awareness among the police personnel and public on various issues including organ donation and also to be part of the process of organ donation making it more smooth and expeditious.
