Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday registered a disproportionate assets case against Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director, Survey and Land Records (Multi Zone-II), for allegedly amassing wealth far beyond his known sources of income through corrupt practices during his service.
Following the registration of the case under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the officer’s residence and multiple locations linked to his relatives and associates.
ACB sleuths reportedly uncovered several immovable properties, including residential flats in Puppalaguda, Narsingi and Rajendranagar, agricultural land at Maheshwaram, open plots in Rangareddy district, and residential buildings in Gachibowli and Chatrinaka.
The raids also led to the seizure of about Rs 1.54 crore in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 2.29 crore, fixed deposits amounting to Rs 5.04 crore, around 1.3 kg of gold ornaments, 8 kg of silver and a car. Two bank lockers in the name of the officer’s wife were also identified and are yet to be opened.
According to the ACB, the total value of assets detected so far stands at Rs 13.05 crore based on documented values, while the actual market value of the properties is expected to be significantly higher.
Officials said further verification of assets is on.
The tainted official was produced before the special ACB court in Nampally and remanded in judicial custody.
