Hyderabad: Stating that the Million March was an unprecedented event in the separate Telangana agitation, former Minister V Srinivas Goud stressed there was a need to conduct another Million March against the failures of the Congress government.
The Million March contributed immensely to achieving a separate Telangana. Undeterred by the restrictions imposed by the police on March 10, 15 years ago, people from all sections exhibited unity by participating voluntarily in the march, he recalled at a press conference here on Tuesday.
On the occasion of the Million March Day, the former Minister paid tributes to the separate Telangana martyrs on behalf of the BRS. Taking pride in participating in the march, the former Minister stressed that under BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule, Telangana had succeeded in all fields in the last 10 years. However, after the Congress came to power in the State, traces of foreign rule were reappearing. Injustice was being done to farmers, unemployed people and all sections of society under the Congress rule, he charged.
The Congress government deceived the BCs with the 42 per cent reservation promise, the two lakh jobs promise remained unfulfilled, there was no Rythu Bandu for farmers, and the government had failed in the optimum utilisation of River Krishna waters. An officer, who worked in Andhra Pradesh, was assigned key responsibilities, and injustice was being done to Telangana irrigation projects, he said.
“There is a need for conducting another Million March against the failures of the Congress government,” Srinivas Goud said.
