Hyderabad: Several BC associations on Tuesday warned that they would paralyse Telangana if their demand for 42 per cent reservations for BCs is not met. At a joint meeting of BC associations held at the Press Club of Hyderabad, BC leaders resolved to launch a united movement cutting across political and caste lines.
Chaired by former Minister V Srinivas Goud, the meeting was attended by prominent BC leaders and intellectuals including former National BC Commission chairman Justice V Eswaraiah, BC Intellectual Forum chairman T Chiranjeevulu, and BC Political Front chairman Balraj Goud, among others. They vowed to form a new JAC and build a movement stronger than the Telangana agitation to secure legal backing for BC reservations and representation in power.
The BC leaders accused both the BJP and Congress of betraying BC interests. They alleged that while the BJP implemented the EWS quota within days, it ignored the decades-long struggle for BC justice. The Congress, they said, lacked sincerity in giving legal and constitutional backing to the 42 per cent BC quota.
