BC organisations demand Private Bill on 42% quota, threaten stir on the lines of farmers’ agitation

Backward Class organisations have warned of intensifying their agitation on the lines of the farmers’ protest, demanding that the Congress introduce a Private Bill in Parliament for 42 per cent reservations. A BC Yatra and mass public meeting have been announced

Hyderabad: Demanding that the Congress introduce a Private Bill in the Parliament to press for 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs), BC organisations have vowed to intensify their agitation on the lines of farmers’ protest against farm laws.

The BC organisations have announced that support would be sought from all States in January and a ‘BC Yatra’ would be conducted across Telangana in February. This would be followed with a massive ‘BC Simha Garjana’ public meeting in March in Hyderabad.


This was announced at the OBC National Seminar conducted at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday. Telangana BC JAC Chairman Jajula Srinivas Goud, former Minister V Srinivas Goud, former MP V Hanumanth Rao, CPI national secretary K Narayana and others participated in the seminar.

Former Minister Srinivas Goud reminded that BRS MP Vaddiraju Ravindra had already introduced a Private Bill in the Parliament.

“If the Congress and BJP are committed to 42 per cent reservations for BCs, they should extend support to the Bill,” he said.

Stating that it was responsibility of the two national parties, the former Minister said to exert pressure on the two parties, agitations would be intensified on the lines of separate Telangana movement.
