BRS to take to streets: Former MLA calls out Congress on fertiliser shortage
Venkataramana Reddy ridiculed Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao's claims that fertiliser supply to farmers depends on the supplies from the Central government which has been asking States to encourage organic farming.
Hyderabad: Former MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy cautioned the State government on distress among farmers due to severe shortage of urea and fertilisers. He said BRS would be forced to take to the streets in support of farmers, pointing to recent protests in Mogullapally, Bhupalpally constituency.
Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Venkataramana Reddy said the Congress has remained a mute spectator to farmers’ struggle for fertilisers and urea, despite erratic monsoon conditions.
“The Congress came to power by making false promises to farmers and have failed to implement the Warangal Farmers’ Declaration. Instead of fulfilling them, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is indulging in diversionary politics due to inexperience in governance,” he said.
He ridiculed Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao‘s claims that fertiliser supply to farmers depends on the supplies from the Central government which has been asking States to encourage organic farming.
“Both the Central and the State governments are leaving farmers in the lurch, instead of addressing the shortfall of fertilisers,” he said. He reminded the people that even Congress MLAs were questioning the Chief Minister and the people of the State over pending promises.
