CPI Telangana State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy described the union budget as anti-poor budget and charged that it yet again failed to fulfill aspirations of Telangana, especially in terms of assurances made under AP Reorganisation Act.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said despite repeated pleas from Telangana, the Centre had not accorded national status to any project in the State. Similarly, there was no mention about Coach Factory, Kazipet, and Steel Factory at Bayyaram.
In the name of River interlinking project like River Krishna-Godavari, the Centre was conspiring to take control over the irrigation projects in the States. Already, a few projects are in advanced stage of completion and Centre should address the inter-State river water sharing disputes transparently, he said.
“Due to covid pandemic, the low and middle income groups are suffering a lot. There is no special mention about increasing the income of farmers and housing for the poor. The union Budget is anti-poor, anti-farmer and anti-growth,” said Chada Venkat Reddy.

Reducing tax litigation, focus on sunrise sectors, climate change & urban management are welcome. A great opportunity was squandered in health sector; viable universal healthcare should have been rolled out.
Other areas neglected: rule of law (police, forensics, prosecution, courts, dispute resolution); small town development to promote in situ urbanisation (urban poverty is a growing challenge); direct transfer of resources to local governments (our federation stopped at States),”
