Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka have made contradictory statements on the State’s demands to the Centre with regard to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project.
During a presentation on irrigation for Congress MLAs and Ministers at Praja Bhavan last week, the Chief Minister said the demand for national project status for the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme was being set aside and that an appeal was instead being made to include it under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana.
“Under the scheme, the Central government will extend 60 per cent of the project cost while 40 per cent has to be borne by the State government,” Revanth Reddy had said.
In sharp contrast, the Deputy Chief Minister, during a pre-budget meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, requested the Centre that the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project be accorded national project status.
He also sought financial allocations of Rs. 45,000 crore for radial roads, Rs. 14,100 crore for the Musi River Front Development Project, Rs 17,000 crore for a greenfield highway from Hyderabad to Amravati via Future City, Rs 2,677 crore for a new railway line from Vikarabad to Krishna, high-speed rail corridors from Hyderabad to Chennai and Rs 17,212 crore for a sewerage plan in Hyderabad, among others.
